During our most recent trip to Cambodia, we delivered 400 school uniforms to children throughout 10 villages. As a result, 400 students are now able to attend school.
As a token of their gratitude, several of the children worked with their village teachers to give us a special surprise: they composed short biographies about themselves and their dreams for the future. It was a touching reminder that not only do their new uniforms give these children access to knowledge and skills, but also that your investment in them through your purchases also gives them confidence to dream big.
One such note came from Salai, a quiet student with a sweet, dimply smile:
My name is Salai. I am a girl, I am 10 years old and I live in Kokchan Village in Siem Reap Province. When I grow up I want to be a good doctor. During my free time I like to play soccer. I thank you.
It is in honor of students like Salai that we name our scarves. And we are excited to announce that Salai is the first namesake behind the latest addition to the krama wheel family! In order to bring you handwoven products from our talented weavers year-round, we are expanding beyond scarves. VERY soon you will be able to keep the cycle of positive change in motion even when the summer sun is out.
